How to make a Pulley

Do you want to know how to make a pulley system? Learn how to make a pulley system at your own house. Making a pulley system is easy. We will show you how to make a pulley system in this section of Science Experiments website.

What kind of materials you need to make a pulley system

To make a pulley system, you only need a wire, thread spools, string, a hook, and a toy bucket full of heavy objects.

How to make a pulley system?

Follow the method below and learn how to make a pulley system at your own house.

  1. Bend about 8 inches (20 cm) of wire into a triangle shape and push the ends into a thread spool. You may need an adult to help you cut and bend the wire.
  2. Find a suitable place to hang your pulley. A hook in the shed or garage or the hook at the end of a plant hanger will be fine.
  3. Tie one end of the string to the handle of the load.
  4. Wind the string over the thread spool.

Now answer the following questions about the pulley system you just made.

  1. Is it easier to life the bucket with the pulley system or without?
  2. How much string do you have to use to lift the load 1 foot (30 cm)?
